(Petach Tikva, Israel, October 31, 2006) -- Tadiran Communications signed a contract valued at approximately US$ 18 million for the supply of the latest tactical communications equipment to a new customer in Africa. Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for 2007. The current order is for advanced HF and VHF communications systems for mid- and long-range voice and data communications on the modern battlefield.
According to Amos Weizman, Senior VP of Tadiran Communications, "This order is the result of extensive marketing activities on the African continent and is the latest in a series of orders placed by new customers in Africa who are introducing Tadiran's products for standard use by their armed forces. This newest customer is expected to place additional large orders for the company's equipment in the future."
"Tadiran Communications' ongoing investments in R&D and technological infrastructures result in a range of new products and systems and new generations of communications systems which are among the most advanced in the world," Weizman added.
This order is part of the company's continuous success in international markets - which account for over 85% of the Company's annual revenues.
Tadiran harnesses the most advanced technologies available in today's military and civilian markets in order to create truly unique communications solutions - evidence of which can be seen in the US$ 19.6 million order received from the Israeli Ministry of Defence for the immediate equipping of next generation radio communications systems for use by various branches of the Israel Defence Forces. The company's WiMax-based "Broadnet" system - which implements the latest in civilian wireless communications technology - has already won an Israel Ministry of Defence's tender in the amount of approximately US$ 10 million.
