L-3 Integrated Systems and Tobyhanna Army Depot Sign Teaming Agreement
( NEW YORK, February 1, 2007 ) -- L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Integrated Systems (L-3 IS) subsidiary and Tobyhanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania have signed a Teaming Agreement (TA). In the event that L-3 wins the Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) Program, the agreement will serve as the basis for a long-term, strategic partnership between Tobyhanna and L-3 IS for JCA logistics support requirements and future aircraft support opportunities.
"L-3 is proud to team with Tobyhanna on the C-27J Spartan offering for the JCA program," said Bob Drewes, President and Chief Operating Officer of L-3 Integrated Systems Group. "This agreement is the beginning of a public-private partnership relationship that will bear fruit in the form of better support to the 'last tactical mile' of the Global War on Terror and better stewardship of taxpayer dollars."
Each party to the agreement brings complementary capabilities and objectives to the relationship. L-3 IS seeks to provide high-quality, cost-effective logistics and engineering solutions for the JCA throughout its lifecycle. Tobyhanna's strategic objective in the TA is to identify and implement acquisition, logistics and program management techniques to provide the best possible JCA support to the war fighter, while ensuring best long-term value for the program.
"This partnership agreement will enable our two teams to provide enhanced support to our joint war fighters. As the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence, we bring decades of experience on critical communications-electronics systems. We look forward to the opportunity to bring our expertise to this program," said Col. Ron Alberto, Commander of Tobyhanna Army Depot.
The focus areas of the TA are product support, supply chain management and depot-level maintenance. The depot's organic capabilities in these areas would augment and complement L-3 IS's own logistics support to the C-27J fleet.
Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, Tobyhanna Army Depot is a worldwide enterprise for the repair, overhaul and integration of Department of Defense (DoD) command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems, with more than 40 forward repair activities here and overseas.
L-3 IS, headquartered in Greenville, Texas, leads a team in the JCA competition offering the C-27J Spartan as the best-value solution to meet the U.S. Air Force's and U.S. Army's medium tactical airlift needs. The team includes Alenia North America, Inc. (a Finmeccanica company), Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Global Military Aircraft Systems (GMAS).
