Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 Selected for Boeing 787 Corporate Jet

(February 16, 2007) -- Rolls-Royce today announced that the Trent 1000 has been selected for the first time to power a Boeing 787-8 VIP aircraft. The customer, whose identity remains confidential, has also chosen to support the engines with a TotalCare(r) services agreement.

The Trent 1000 was the first engine to be selected on all three commercial variants of the aircraft, and has now added to that by being the first announced engine selection for a 787 purchased by Boeing Business Jet.

Dominic Horwood, Director of Boeing Programmes at Rolls-Royce, said: "Reliability and environmental performance of the Trent 1000, supported by a tailored TotalCare service agreement, is clearly an attractive combination for corporate customers in this prestige marketplace. We have an excellent track record of meeting the needs of the corporate jet sector andwill take that experience forward into the corporate widebody market. "

The Trent 1000 development programme is progressing well and providing excellent results throughout testing. The engine is on schedule to certify later this year, ahead of powering the first flight of the 787.
