General Dynamics Team Selected to Implement U.S. Government's Nationwide Integrated Wireless Network
(Scottsdale, Ariz., April 19, 2007) -- The Department of Justice has selected General Dynamics C4 Systems to implement nationwide, interoperable wireless communications services to department field agents as part of the Integrated Wireless Network (IWN) program. The IWN program is expected to be a multi-billion-dollar effort over 15 years, with all options exercised.
The IWN program is a joint effort of the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security and Treasury to provide secure, interoperable wireless communications that support the missions of the respective federal agencies. IWN will provide a range of secure and reliable wireless communications services, including voice, data and multimedia, to support federal law enforcement, homeland security and first responder operations. IWN will implement solutions to provide federal agency interoperability with appropriate links to state, local and tribal public safety and homeland security entities.
