Air Canada Selects navAero tBagC22 for Class 2 EFB Program Hardware

(April 24, 2007) -- navAero tBagC22 computer and display hardware has been chosen as the EFB flight deck hardware by Air Canada for the carrier's Embraer E-175 and E-190 fleets.

The decision for Air Canada to launch their Class 2 EFB program coincides with the carrier's acquisition of their new Embraer fleets. By bringing these two programs together, the airline will take advantage of advanced flight planning technologies and move towards a paperless flight deck. Air Canada's Technical Pilot, Electronic Flight Bag, Captain Claude Saint-Martin said: "Our decision to select the navAero Class 2 EFB solution provides us with a robust and cost-effective platform to deploy software applications that will allow us to meet our business goals of realizing significant cost savings and enhanced operational performance".

Dual networked installations of the navAero tBagC22 hardware systems - featuring built-in ARINC 429 connectivity - will be installed on the Embraer E-175 and E-190 flightdecks. Certification will be executed by Air Canada under Transport Canada's regulations with on-going collaboration and assistance from navAero throughout the certification process. As a Class II device, the navAero tBagC22 system is suitable for use during all phases of flight.
Deployments on Air Canada's Embraer fleets will start during calendar year 2007. Flying trials are scheduled to commence in Q3 2007, and it is anticipated that these fleets will be fully deployed and operational during 2008.

Ken Crowhurst, navAero Executive Vice President and Managing Director, stated: "We are extremely excited to have industry icon, Air Canada, as the newest member of our fast- growing list of airlines who have seen navAero's technology as the way-to-go for EFB hardware. We are providing a robust yet cost-effective solution that meets the most demanding environmental as well as ROI standards. And for our customers, that means they are getting an affordable business tool that can help them improve productivity and operating efficiency through access to data on a platform they can depend upon. Our customers chose the application that makes sense for their business mission - we are simply the technology enabler that gives them the ability to have their needs fulfilled."
