General Dynamics Wins 2006 Cogswell Award for Industrial Security Excellence

(Fairfax, Va., May 3, 2007) -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded the 2006 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award by the Defense Security Service (DSS).

General Dynamics is one of 29 companies to receive the award. The firm was praised for building the Middletown, Rhode Island, security program practices to a level that exceeds the standards and requirements set forth by the National Industrial Security Program.

The Cogswell Award is the most esteemed honor DSS gives to a cleared defense contractor. The selection process is very rigorous. Only five percent of the Department of Defense (DoD) contractors in the country are nominated for the award. Facilities are chosen by their assigned DSS Industrial Security Representatives, based on specific criteria and two consecutive superior industrial security reviews.
