Contract Signed for Helicopter Training Services to Be Delivered at Oakey in Queensland

(May 4, 2007) -- I am pleased to announce that Defence has signed a contract with Boeing Australia Limited for the provision of training services to be delivered at the Army Aviation Training Centre in Oakey, Queensland.

The contract is valued at approximately $113M over five years and will provide helicopter maintenance, training of Army personnel both on the ground and in the air, as well as training and administrative support services.

This contract also provides leased civilian helicopters which will undertake search and rescue as well as loadmaster training. Provision of the leased helicopters will allow Defence to retire the Vietnam Veteran, the Iroquois, following a long and distinguished service in both the Royal Australian Air Force and Australian Army.
