American Science and Engineering, Inc. Receives $4 M Order for Multiple ZBVs and SmartCheck Personnel Screening Systems from New African Customer

Systems will be used for checkpoint security at high-threat facilities

(Billerica, Mass., September 27, 2007) -- American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E(R)) (NASDAQ: ASEI), a leader in X-ray detection technology, announced today the receipt of a $4 million contract for multiple Z Backscatter Vans and SmartCheck Personnel Screening Systems from a new African Customer. Two of the ZBVs will be equipped with Forwardscatter capability, and all of the systems include service and maintenance training, and extended warranty.
