American Science and Engineering Receives $20 M Follow-On Order from Middle East Customs Agency to Secure Seaports

Second Phase is funded for Multiple OmniView Gantry Systems with Proprietary Shaped Energy Technology

(Billerica, Mass., December 20, 2007) -- American Science and Engineering, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASEI) (AS&E(R)), a leader in X-ray detection technology, announced today the receipt of a $20 million follow-on order from a Middle East Customs Agency to fund the second-phase of a $45 million contract for multiple OmniView(TM) Gantry Shaped Energy(R) Systems. The first-phase of the contract had been funded at $25 million in March of 2006.
