Indra Implements its Air Traffic Management Technology in Argentina in Record Time
* The company's systems are operative in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires' control centre in record time
* This first contract for Argentina's air traffic market includes two simulators for Ezeiza's training, improvement and testing centre for EUR13M
Indra implemented in record time, just two months, its air traffic management technology in Argentina. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) chose Indra, Spain's premier multinational and one of the most important in Europe, the implementation of the new air traffic management systems in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires and Cordoba's international airports as well as in Ezeiza's training, improvement and testing centre for EUR13M.
Indra won this first contract in Argentina's air traffic market through international tender called by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization, an agency of the United Nations) where the sector's main multinationals were invited. The tender conditions were very demanding, not only because of technological difficulties and requirements but also for tight deadline.
Indra has implemented in Ezeiza its new systems for civil air traffic in just two months and is currently implementing in Cordoba the systems that will control the air space the city is responsible for as well as approach, landing and takeoff manoeuvres of aircrafts. The contract also includes rental of a surveillance system based on a secondary radar system (MSSR) for Ezeiza and the supply of a digital vocal IP-based communications for Cordoba's control centre.
The company is implementing two simulators in the training, improvement and testing centre (CIPE) in Ezeiza. The first one is identical to the one implemented in Ezeiza's control centre, although with more control posts and backs up Ezeiza's centre in the event of emergency. The second one is a control tower simulator (TWR) with a 360o visual scenario projection.
Besides the supplies, implementation and start up in record time of the above-mentioned systems; Indra will train more than 150 air controllers and more than 20 maintenance engineers for further upkeep, exploitation and operation of the systems.
This project alongside a rental from Argentinean authorities of Indra's proprietary 3D-LANZA radar by Spain's government, will contribute to ostensibly improve air traffic operation and control.
