DRS Receives Contracts of $48.8 M to Deliver SADA II Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies for U.S. Army Ground Vehicles

(Parsippany, N.J., February 6, 2008) -- DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) announced today that it has received two contracts totaling $48.8 million from Raytheon Network Centric Systems of Raytheon Company. (NYSE: RTN) in McKinney, Texas -- to produce additional Standard Advanced Dewar Assembly (SADA) II units for the U.S. Army's Second Generation Forward Looking Infrared (SGF) B-kit systems which provide infrared imaging capabilities for ground vehicle application.

This follow-on award to the SGF SADA II contracts brings DRS's total SGF SADA II awards to over $100 million. The work will be performed by the company's DRS Sensors & Targeting Systems - Infrared Technologies Division in Dallas, Texas. The Division will deliver the units between August 2008 and June 2010.

These units are used on the Abrams Main Battle Tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle -- considered the most advanced ground combat vehicles in existence-- and on Long Range Advance Scout Surveillance System (LRAS3) platforms. Technically demanding to design and produce, these highly sensitive SADA II units are integral to the most advanced ground vehicle sighting and targeting systems in the world. As a result, they are central to the U.S. Army's modernization strategy and its goal of dominating the battlefields of the 21st century.

"This award extends DRS's role as a key supplier supporting U.S. Army programs employing these 2nd-generation infrared sensors," said James M. Baird, president of DRS's Reconnaissance, Surveillance & Target Acquisition (RSTA) business segment, the segment operating the Dallas division. "DRS has been a supplier of SGF SADA II units since the mid-1990's. Our most recent contract again achieved excellent on-time delivery and quality ratings."
