EADS DS in Spain Obtains Contract for the Integration of an Automatic Flight Inspection System for the Spanish Air Force

- Strengthening the role of EADS Defence & Security as systems integration company in Spain, including logistics support
- Spanish Air Force awards EUR 8 million for this contract

(February 12, 2008) -- EADS Defence & Security (DS) in Spain, through its integrated business unit Military Air Systems, has been awarded a contract for the integration of an automatic flight inspection system in a Cessna Citation V C.560 aircraft for the Spanish Air Force, resulting of a public tender process.

The Spanish Air Force has awarded a budget of EUR 8 million for execution of this contract. Among the available automatic flight inspection systems, EADS DS has selected the UNIFIS 3000 system, produced by the Norwegian company NSM, a leading company in inspection equipments for the navigation aids systems, as the best choice. A second-hand Cessna Citation V C.560 aircraft, in which the mentioned integration will be carried out, has also to be acquired.

The Spanish Air Force has specifically requested the selection of this model of aircraft, presenting similar characteristics of several further aircraft (TR-20) already in operation by the Cartographic Centre of the SAF. On top of its role as integrator, EADS DS will be responsible of the entire logistic support, including technical documentation, training courses and spares.
