L-3 Selected as Contractor for UK Intelligence Contract

(New York, February 28, 2008) -- L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) has been selected by the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (MoD) as the prime contractor to supply an Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS). The system will provide real-time intelligence capability to the MoD and its operational forces. Under an initial contract valued at GBP 46 million, L-3 will provide program management, system design, platform integration and systems engineering for requirements development, test and evaluation, and full life-cycle sustainment. The full life of the program is expected to be 15 years, with a projected contract value in excess of GBP 70 million.

L-3 leads a team which includes U.K. partner companies BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies, Babcock Marine, Qi3, Healy Solicitors and Raytheon Systems Limited, as well as L-3 Advanced System Architectures Ltd. L-3 has committed to perform at least 75 percent of the IBS effort in the U.K.

"L-3 is providing a superior solution to the MoD in an area that is key to actionable intelligence and the defense of vital interests," said Tony Smeraglinolo, president of Intelligence Solutions, the L-3 division leading the program. "Our L-3 team looks forward to this exciting opportunity to partner with leading U.K. companies as we work to migrate critical, discriminating technology into a new market space."

Ron Cook, vice president of L-3's London Operations, added, "L-3 has assembled a top-flight team with the U.K.'s leading firms in Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR). The L-3 approach combines proven performance with a sovereign solution."
