BAE Receives $15.5 M for MOLLE Components

(Phoenix, March 5, 2008) -- BAE Systems has been awarded two follow-on orders totaling $15.5 million from the U.S. Army for production of Core Rifleman and Large Rucksack Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment (MOLLE) system sets. The MOLLE system is the primary field equipment piece for the U.S. Armed Forces and incorporates 37 components. Primarily comprised of vests, pockets, packs, and hydration systems, the MOLLE system enables soldiers to carry the necessary equipment critical to their mission.

"This new delivery order sustains production for the 37 individual components that make up two of the sets available in the MOLLE system," said Sean Martin, vice president, sales and business development of Individual Equipment for BAE Systems. "Widely utilized, the Core Rifleman and Large Rucksack sets maintain our position as a market leader in U.S. Army field equipment."

The external frame and quick release mechanism improves mission effectiveness without compromising mobility. The MOLLE system is fully adjustable to accommodate body armor and allows for easy removal of the large rucksack while maintaining use of the Fighting Load Carrier (FLC) vest and pockets.

Issued under a $258.9 million multi-year contract received in August 2006, these orders bring the total accumulated amount awarded to $169 million.
