GD Awarded $66 M for Submarine Combat System Development

(Fairfax, Va., March 6, 2008) -- The U.S. Navy's Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a two-year, $66.2 million contract extension to continue engineering services work on the Submarine Tactical Control System (TCS) portion of the Submarine Combat System Modernization program. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, the lead developer of the TCS, is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems will develop commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software and hardware upgrades to integrate improved tactical and weapons control capabilities for multiple submarine classes. TCS leads the implementation of the Navy's open architecture and open business model approach on submarines with a design that emphasizes shared standards that provide greater interoperability, portability, scalability and supplier independence.
