Alloy Surfaces Awarded M211 Flare Contract
(April 29, 2008) -- Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring") is pleased to announce that its US subsidiary, Alloy Surfaces Company, Inc. ("Alloy Surfaces"), based in Philadelphia, has been awarded an IDIQ (indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity) contract for the supply of M211 flares to the US Department of Defense. The M211 flare is a key component in the Advanced Infrared Countermeasure Munition (AIRCMM) suite that is used by the US Army and US Air Force to protect helicopters, and is the key element of the M206 and M211 defensive flare solution that protects transport aircraft from the threat of IR guided missiles. The contract extends over a five year period, and has a minimum value of $5.4 million and a maximum value of $347.9 million. A first delivery order at a value of $16.0 million, for delivery in 2009, has already been placed on Alloy Surfaces.
Dr David Price, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented: "We are very pleased to have been awarded this multi-year contract. Following the recent success of our other US subsidiary, Kilgore Flares Company LLC, in securing a five year IDIQ contract for the M212 flare, Chemring now has multi-year contracts for all three flare components of the AIRCMM suite."
