GE Receives Contract for M1A2 Position Navigation Systems

(Grand Rapids, Mich., May 15, 2008) -- GE's Aviation business received a contract from General Dynamics Land Systems valued at more than $20 million for M1A2 position navigation systems. The order supports the M1A2 Main Battle Tank upgrade program for the U.S. Army.

The systems are manufactured at the GE facility in Michigan with production deliveries currently taking place through 2013.

The M1A2 position navigation system is a highly accurate position reference system which provides autonomous real-time vehicle position, heading, and attitude. Vehicle reference information is available to the tank commander and the vehicle driver on the station display panels. POS/NAV provides location accuracy through inertial sensor technology without external reference or outside data links.
