LaBarge Awarded $1.5 M to Produce Assemblies for Radar Jammer System
(St. Louis, June 10, 2008) -- LaBarge, Inc. (AMEX: LB) has received a $1.5 million contract from Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) to continue to produce electronic assemblies for the AN/ALQ-135 radar jammer system. LaBarge has worked on the program since 2005. The Company expects to receive follow-on orders.
The AN/ALQ-135 is an internally mounted radar countermeasures system designed for the F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft. It automatically can detect and jam enemy radar signals such as radar used by short-range surface-to-air missiles, antiaircraft artillery and airborne threats. The jammer is part of the F-15 aircraft's tactical electronic warfare system that can detect, identify and counter threats posed by an enemy. For example, if the warning receiver detects a threat before the radar jammer, the warning receiver will inform the jammer of the threat.
