Alion Awarded $14M to Support Army Training

Technology Services Provider Brings Technical and Program Management Oversight to Battle Command Training Branch Program

(McLean, VA., June 16, 2008) -- The Army III Corps Battle Command Training Branch, Fort Hood, Texas has awarded a $14 million contract to Alion Science and Technology to provide policy and standards guidance and technical oversight in the development of a digital battle command system and training plans that support individual and group training exercises.

The Modeling and Simulation Technical and Operational Reinforcement to III Corps and Fort Hood Battle Command Training Branch contract will run for three years. Alion will support the contract with technical and program management oversight by developing battle command and simulated-related concepts and policies.

"Alion is supporting the Battle Command Training Branch (BCTB) with the development of a digital battle command system, training plans and digital exercise architectures that integrate modeling and simulation tools with our training systems in support of specified unit training requirements," said Georgie McAteer, chief of the Army Battle Command Training Branch, III Corps and Fort Hood.

The BCTB ensures that battle command training capabilities are established and maintained based on Army guidelines and within allocated funding.

"This contract will enable the BCTB to coordinate, synchronize and establish priorities for the fielding of simulations, for the integration of various simulation and command and control system tools and for strategic planning in the development of future simulations," said Timer Keenan, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Strategic Operations Group. "We are excited for the opportunity to continue assisting the Army by bringing our technical engineering and integration expertise to this mission-critical program."
