Honeywell Delivers Electronic Fuze Setters to UK MoD
Highly Reliable Precision Fuze Ensure Projectile Fire, Including Artillery, Motor and Rockets
(Paris, June 16, 2008) -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that it is delivering its advanced technology electronic Fuze Setters to the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD) Artillery Fuzing System program.
Under Honeywell's contract with Junghans Microtech, the company will deliver 500 Fuze Setters through 2010.
"Modern artillery and mortar systems require state-of-the-art subsystems to enable the highest fire power and reliability," said Werner Hansli, Honeywell Sales Director, European Land Systems. "Honeywell's highly reliable Fuze Setter is an autonomous, portable electronic device that withstands extreme environmental conditions such as gun fire shock and tracked vehicle vibration to ensure mission success."
To increase accuracy and rates of fire, reduce human error and shorten artillery response times, the Fuzes are equipped with electronics to receive and confirm the setting via an inductive interface, an interface transmitting information via a magnetic field. Mission data are entered by the operator. A large brightness adjustable electroluminescent display indicates the parameters of the Fuze settings and confirms proper result.
Honeywell Fuze Setters ensure reliable and robust operation through a proprietary technology development process.
