MBDA Orders New Infrared Thermal Imager for Eryx from Sagem

(June 17, 2008) -- MBDA has just ordered from Sagem Defense Securite (SAFRAN Group) close to 300 new-generation thermal imagers to equip the firing posts of its Eryx anti-tank missiles.

Building on developments made in the FELIN program, the thermal imager uses new uncooled infrared technology. It offers users of the weapon system numerous technical/operational advantages: compactness, low weight, noiselessness, ease of use and enhanced autonomy.

This contract makes Sagem Defense Securite the supplier of reference for uncooled infrared imagers for the Eryx land weapon system.

The imager provides new operational advantages for night combat; namely its range matches the missile's maximum range. It is available for new equipment or for upgrading existing weapons systems.
