Sagem Proposes a New PNU System in Collaboration With Rockwell Collins
(June 20, 2008) -- On the occasion of the Eurosatory 2008 exhibition, Sagem Defense Securite (SAFRAN Group) is presenting its new artillery Position and Navigation Unit (PNU).
The system combines Sagem Defense Securite's SIGMA 30 gyrolaser navigation and pointing system with a Rockwell Collins Explosion Resistant GPS Receiver / Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module.
The PNU is specially designed to operate the new GPS-guided weapons in artillery units' extreme conditions: it ensures simultaneously high-precision navigation and pointing of firing platforms and initialization of the weapon's GPS receiver.
Significantly reinforcing the effectiveness of artillery pieces (i.e. mortars, cannons and rocket launchers), the PNU is to be used as part of France, Germany and Italy's programs to enhance their multiple MLRS rocket launchers.
