Rockwell Collins Selected for Air Force Test Range Program

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa, June 23, 2008) -- Rockwell Collins has been awarded a contract for the first phase of the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) program by the U.S. Air Force. The contract is valued at $41.9 million.

Rockwell Collins is the prime contractor with team members from Cubic Defense Applications, Honeywell, NavCom Technology and Argon ST.

"This award will leverage our combined team's strengths and capabilities to provide an advanced integrated range instrumentation system, on time and on budget," said Ron Hornish, vice president and general manager of Precision Strike Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "We're pleased that the Air Force has selected Rockwell Collins for this important program and we look forward to delivering on our commitment."

CRIIS will replace the aging Advanced Range Data System currently in use at major U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy test ranges. CRIIS will improve time, space and position information accuracy, security, and datalink features. The CRIIS design is based on a modular, open system approach and industry standard interfaces.

The Phase I award is the first of two phases leading to the upgrade of test and evaluation ranges in support of testing modern platforms. In two years, a single prime contractor will be selected out of the two Phase I competitors to enter the system design and development phase.
