US Army Awards GD $11 M Military Personnel Services Contract
(Fairfax, Va., July 9, 2008) -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to provide military personnel support services for three Virginia bases - Fort Eustis, Fort Monroe and Fort Story. The contract has a total potential value of $11.1 million over five years if all options are exercised.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide support services that include Army personnel records management and processing, personnel accounting, installation arrival and departure processing, soldier reassignments, transition, separation and retirement support; soldier mobilization and readiness processing; casualty assistance management; passport services, military ID card services and promotions support; and all related Army personnel administrative services.
General Dynamics will also manage the Army's enterprise human resources application, the Electronic Military Personnel Office (eMILPO), and the conversion of eMILPO to the Army's Defense Integrated Military Human Resources System (DIMHRS). Acting as a representative of the installations' Adjutants General, General Dynamics will provide the Army with accurate and timely visibility into personnel status throughout the Army.
"Maintaining detailed and timely U.S. Army personnel records requires the same precision and responsiveness that are the hallmarks of Army operations around the world," said Zannie Smith, senior vice president and general manager of Army Solutions for General Dynamics Information Technology. "Accurate, easily accessible personnel records are central to ensuring that servicemen receive the personnel services necessary to optimize U.S. Army readiness and support advancement for soldiers and officers."
