Sikorsky Selects Goodrich VigorSystem for S-76D Executive Helicopter

Selection brings full health management functionality to mid-size commercial helicopters

(Charlotte, N.C., July 14, 2008) -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has been selected by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to supply its new Vigor(TM) Health Usage and Management System (VHUMS(TM)) for the S-76D(TM) executive transport helicopter. Goodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems unit in Vergennes, Vt. will design, develop and produce the system.

VHUMS is a new family of lower cost, full functionality health usage management systems (HUMS) optimized for mid-size helicopters. The system will monitor the entire helicopter mechanical drive train from the engines to the rotor system, flight manual exceedances, and hundreds of aircraft system signals. The advanced information provided by VHUMS alerts operators to take preventative maintenance steps that avoid costly, lengthy repairs in the future.

"VHUMS brings significant advantages to operators of mid-size commercial helicopters that previously were only available to users of large or military helicopters," said Jan Mathiesen, Vice President, Business Development, Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems. "By focusing on commercial operator requirements, we're able to optimize capability while keeping the price affordable. Our HUMS experience on Sikorsky's S-92(R) in concert with their Worldwide Customer Support organization will help us maximize readiness for the new S-76D fleet."
