CAE Wins Contracts for 4 FFSs Valued More Than C$50 M

(Farnborough, UK, July 15, 2008) -- Today at the Farnborough Air Show, CAE announced it had been awarded contracts to design and manufacture four full-flight simulators (FFSs) and associated training devices valued at more than C$50 million at list prices. The contracts are with Etihad Airways, British Airways, Bombardier and Embraer. CAE has now announced a total of 14 FFS sales in fiscal year 2009, which began April 1.

During Farnborough, CAE announced C$128 million in civil aviation and military contracts including the sale of these four full-flight simulators.

This level of flexibility is particularly valuable in the current environment as airlines are actively seeking additional productivity gains to help alleviate the impact of high fuel costs."

Etihad Airways

Today during a ceremony at the Farnborough Air Show, Etihad Airways Executive Vice President Finance, James Rigney, and CAE's Marc Parent signed the contract for CAE to provide a Boeing 777-300ER (extended range) FFS and a CAE SimfinityTM Boeing 777 Integrated Procedures Trainer to Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. The simulator will be delivered in 2009 to Etihad's training centre in Abu Dhabi.

"The Boeing 777 is an important aircraft in Etihad's fleet strategy and it is vital that we have the best equipment and technology in place to train our pilots to the very highest standards," said James Rigney. "It will be one of most advanced simulators in the industry and because the onboard technology can be regularly upgraded, we will be able to use it for many years."

British Airways

CAE has won a contract to design and manufacture a CAE 7000 Series Airbus A320 FFS for British Airways. The simulator will be delivered to British Airways training centre at Heathrow Airport in the spring of 2009. This is the seventh full-flight simulator British Airways has ordered from CAE, and the first since 2000.

Bombardier

CAE has sold a CAE 7000 Series Global Express* aircraft FFS to Bombardier*. The Bombardier Global Express* aircraft FFS will be the first to feature the new Bombardier Global Vision Flight Deck, a trademark of Bombardier Inc., an innovative new cockpit integrating advanced avionics with a range of ergonomic features. The simulator will be delivered in 2009 to Bombardier's Montreal training centre.

"This simulator will leverage the technology and fidelity that we have evolved in the existing Global Express* aircraft simulators we purchased from CAE. It will allow us to provide accurate and effective training for our customers right from the start as the aircraft enters service. We will also be able to showcase the Global Vision Flight Deck as we grow our training program portfolio", says Hank Blasiak, General Manager, Commercial Training, Bombardier.

Embraer

CAE has sold a CAE 7000 Series Embraer 170/190 full-flight simulator to Embraer, who will provide training for its E-Jets operators in Europe. The simulator will be delivered to a European training centre to be determined by Embraer in early 2009.
