Technology Solutions Company Builds on Three Years of Experience to Provide Strategic Planning, Analysis and Project Management
(McLean, VA., September 11, 2008) -- Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions provider, has been awarded a contract worth more than $1million from the Army's Contracting Center of Excellence that encompasses program management support for the Army Reserve and National Guard Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) activities.
The Department of Defense uses BRAC to reorganize its infrastructure, support its forces and increase operational readiness. Under the contract, Alion will support BRAC operations with software tools, materials, supervision and services to provide program management expertise. Alion will also make recommendations associated with Army Reserve and National Guard BRAC actions. This support includes strategic planning, program planning and implementation, program analysis, staff actions, real property acquisition and transfer, requirements evaluation, reporting and tracking of environmental remediation, and military construction activities.
Alion's technical expertise will help the Army with the closing of 176 Army Reserve locations and 211 National Guard sites. In addition, Alion will provide planning and guidance recommendations for the construction of 125 new Armed Forces Reserve Centers (AFRCs) that will combine Army Reserve and National Guard functions in one center to support contingency and humanitarian operations for services missions. As part of the construction plan, Alion will deliver the technical expertise to prepare the AFRCs for realignment, the move of personnel and equipment to the new AFRCs, and for the realignment of nonessential AFRCs.
"Alion continues to provide assistance to all realignment requirements to support BRAC 2005 Army Reserve and National Guard actions," said Timer Keenan, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Strategic Operations Group. "We are building on three years of experience in all of the phases and actions required for implementation of this contract and are excited to support the Army in this important endeavor."
