ITT Successfully Demos New EW Concepts During RIMPAC
(White Plains, N.Y., September 24, 2008) -- ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) has completed a highly successful demonstration of the Electronic Warfare Concept Demonstrator (EWCD) during the U.S. Navy's Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Fleet exercise conducted in the waters off Hawaii earlier this year.
The EWCD is a Joint IR&D program between ITT Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems (RSS) and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. The program integrates precision direction finding and a robust ElectroMagnetic Interference capability of the ES-3701 Tactical Radar ESM System with the Improved Control and Display (ICAD) subsystem.
The EWCD efforts provide an alternative approach to improving EW capabilities on surface ships including the Littoral Combat Ship and USCG platforms. The EWCD performed exceptionally well in the five-day multi-threat RIMPAC Electronic Warfare environment exercise. "We couldn't have been more pleased with the reaction we have received from the warfighting community," stated ITT Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt. "The demonstrator's performance reinforces ITT's ability to provide the kind of EW equipment the warfighter wants and needs."
