GD Awarded $46 M to Provide Education and Training Services

(Fairfax, Va., September 30, 2008) -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract to provide education and training products and support services to the Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center (NETPDTC). Awarded by the Navy's Fleet and Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Norfolk Contracting Department, Philadelphia Office, the contract has an initial award value of $8.8 million and a total potential value of $46.3 million over five years if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide technical support for training programs to the Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies that use NETPDTC. General Dynamics will also provide support for training requirements, including printed materials, interactive multimedia instruction (IMI), video services, interactive electronic technical manuals, electronic classrooms, distance learning, process mapping, simulation, and gaming and needs assessments.

"The NETPDTC delivers the knowledge necessary to satisfy fleet performance requirements that will improve fleet readiness of sailors and Marines," said Ken Slaght, vice president and general manager Navy Systems Maritime Systems Sector for General Dynamics Information Technology. "General Dynamics will provide learning tools and technical expertise that enable service members to develop to their fullest potential, both professionally and personally."
