Sensors will improve the operational picture for U.S. forces
(harlotte, N.C., November 17, 2008) -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has received a contract from the Naval Research Laboratory to provide CA-247 wide-area airborne persistent surveillance sensors and associated data items for U.S. forces. Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter 2009. Goodrich's ISR Systems team in Barrington, Ill. will perform the work.
The CA-247 sensor integrates advanced optics, stabilization, and software resulting in an appropriately large field of view capable of wide-area persistent surveillance. This will provide situational awareness to ground troops in the urban environment. Goodrich's wide-area sensors enhance the current operational systems with an infrared, around-the-clock persistent surveillance capability.
Tom Bergeron, President, ISR Systems at Goodrich, said, "The wide area persistent surveillance concept is the next step in the evolution of aerial reconnaissance. These advanced sensors join other Goodrich products such as the Intelligence Reference Library software, DB-110 and SYERS airborne reconnaissance camera systems, and chemical detection systems in delivering real time actionable intelligence to the warfighter."
