ASHKELON, Israel--Nov. 23, 2004
Defense Industries International, Inc. (OTCBB:DFNS), a leading manufacturer and global provider of personal military and civilian protective equipment and supplies, today announced that its subsidiary Achidatex Nazareth Elite (1977) Ltd. has received an international award of excellence from the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI), for its innovative inflatable Safety Minefield Shoes.
The U.S. patented Safety Minefield Shoes have a unique double-cushion construction, based on internally interconnected air chambers, which remain safe and operational under severe conditions. The shoes' unique construction and their lightweight provide optimal weight distribution with minimal risk of air leakage, enabling higher operational capabilities. The patented Safety Minefield Shoes concept is assigned exclusively to Achidatex.
IFAI is a not-for-profit trade association with over 2,000 member companies representing the international specialty fabrics marketplace. In 2004, 370 projects from 21 countries participated in the IFAI award competition.
Commenting on the Award, Joseph Fostbinder, CEO of Defense Industries, said: "We are honored to receive this prestigious award from the IFAI. We completed the development of the Safety Minefield Shoes less than a year ago and have not begun their commercial distribution yet. However, we have provided the Safety Minefield Shoes to some of our existing clients in the mine disposal market on a trial basis, and have received enthusiastic responses regarding their capabilities."
Mr. Fostbinder continued, "There is a growing world-wide need for minefield disposal equipment due to the expanding efforts to clear millions of mines scattered across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Currently, many civilian and military organizations operate in this market segment and we believe that a significant opportunity exists for products such as our Safety Minefield Shoes, as well as additional mine disposal equipment that we are developing."
