Plasan Sasa Awarded UK RAF Follow-on Contract for Chinook Ballistic Protection Kits
Plasan is subcontractor for Permali Gloucester in ongoing project for RAF
(Israel, June 27, 2006) -- Plasan Sasa, a global leader in the field of combat-proven ballistic armor solutions - including airborne solutions for fixed and rotary wing aircraft - has been awarded a further contract as a subcontractor for Permali Gloucester, the Royal Air Force's (RAF) Sole Source for this type of armor. This project, valued at several million dollars, follows the successful completion of the previous contract, which was awarded in 2003. Plasan will supply ballistic protection upgrade kits and all accessories required for installation in cabin and cockpit floors and walls for the RAF's Chinook helicopters. Delivery began in June and will continue through September 2006, with an additional order expected in 2007.
Boeing's versatile, heavy-lift Chinook is used extensively to support the UK's armed forces in various global operations. The current project, considered one of the most complex ballistic armor solutions ever achieved, answers deployment needs on diverse platforms for a variety of battle scenarios, adding maximum protection against small arms fire for aircrew, troops and passengers throughout cabins and cockpits.
In addition to the Chinook, Plasan Sasa provides its highly regarded ballistic armor kits for all types of tactical transport, assault, and cargo helicopters - including the Blackhawk, Bell, and Super Puma - as well as applications for tactical transport and cargo aircraft such as the Hercules C-130.
According to Plasan Sasa's CEO, Dan Ziv, "We are very pleased to be awarded this second contract, following the successful completion of the original order. This is a testament to the confidence shown by the RAF and Permali Gloucester in our capabilities, technological expertise, and the quality of our solutions. We look forward to expanding our cooperation in this important market."
