SELEX Sistemi Integrati training simulator delivered to the Italian Air Force

(Roma, October 25, 2006) -- SELEX Sistemi Integrati and the partner company Vitrociset have delivered to the Italian Air Force an ATC training simulator).

The simulator is based in the military airport of Pratica di Mare (Rome) and helps military air traffic controllers in their training and qualification. Thanks to its flexibility, it will also be available for civil personnel.

Selex Sistemi Integrati's system is considered one of the most advanced simulators in the world; in fact it allows integrated training sessions.
The air traffic controller can be trained in a scenario simulating the management of several different operational situations at the same time: starting form tower, to approach control and from area to en route control, including the management of precision approach landing (PAR capability).

Selex Sistemi Integrati has been able to provide such a capability thanks to a simulation environment made of a 5 metre high tower with a 9 metre round screen inside. The simulation background is virtually recreated by seven projectors and an audio diffusion perfectly reproducing the real situation as perceived by the air traffic controller.

The system can be expanded in its main technical features to act in the field of air defence training.
